Request a Peer Mentor!

How the Program Works

The Access Ed Peer Mentorship Program strives to match newly registered Accessible Education students, upon request, with a registered, upper year mentor who shares similar disabilities, areas of study, and/or interests. Mentors offer academic and social support to help make aspects of university more approachable and manageable for students with disabilities.

As a mentee in the Access Ed Peer Mentorship Program, you will gain:

  • Essential skills to help you transition to Western University and adjust to post-secondary accessibility-related processes.
  • Knowledge of campus resources and services to assist your academic journey.
  • Regular communication with your mentor to get to connect, receive support, discover resources, and arrange plans to meet up (either in person or online).
  • Opportunities to participate in one-on-one meetings and group activities that build lasting connections and enhance your well-being.

When to Apply for a Peer Mentor

Accessible Education students can apply to match with an Access Ed Peer Mentor for the Fall 2024 term (September to December) and/or the Winter 2025 term (January to April).

Applications will open in August 2024 for students enrolled in an academic program that starts in September 2024.

Students are encouraged to request an Access Ed Peer Mentor at the earliest opportunity through our online request form:
