Excellence in Leadership Awards
Dr. Susan Rodger Student Leadership Award
This award recognizes the overall outstanding contributions made to the Leadership & Mentorship Program at Western University. The award recognizes innovation, length of service, dedication to students and the development of future student leaders. The nomination can be made by a Student Success Centre staff person, a Peer Mentor, Team Leader, Student Coordinator, or Western Student. In the nomination letter, please outline the leadership qualities and abilities the individual has demonstrated and what contributions they have made to the Western peer mentor community, citing specific examples.
LAMP Team Leader of the Year
This award recognizes a LAMP Team Leader who has shown exceptional dedication and leadership throughout the year and whose involvement has had a significant impact within LAMP.
LAMP Peer Mentor of the Year
This award recognizes the outstanding leadership of a LAMP Peer Mentor and honors their dedication to their First Year Students and to the program as a whole.
LAMP 2.0 Peer Mentor of the Year
This award recognizes the outstanding leadership of a LAMP Peer Mentor and honors their dedication to their First Year Students and to the program as a whole.
LAMP First Year Student of the Year
This award recognizes a first year student who shows dedication and involvement and aspires to improve and contribute to The Student Success Centre and LAMP.
LAMP Leadership Chair of the Year
This award recognizes a LAMP Leadership Chair who has shown exceptional dedication, initiative and leadership throughout their involvement in the role and whose contribution has had a significant impact within LAMP.
Biology Mentorship Program Mentor of the Year
This award recognizes the outstanding leadership of a BMP Mentor and honors their dedication to first year students and to the program as a whole.
Dr. Jack Russel Off- Campus Student Leadership Award
This award recognizes outstanding service to off-campus students at Western University. The award recognizes innovation, length of service, dedication to students and the development of future student leaders. The nomination can be made by a Student Success Centre staff person, an OC Soph, OC Committee Chair, OC student, Student Coordinator. In the nomination letter, please outline the leadership qualities and abilities the individual has demonstrated and what contributions they have made to the off campus community citing specific examples.
SOCS Soph of the Year
This award is given to an off-campus Soph who demonstrates consistent involvement and dedication. This Soph has also contributed to the betterment of the Centre, SOCS, and the needs of the OC first-year students.
SOCS First Year Student of the Year
Is awarded to a first year, off-campus student who shows dedication and involvement and who aspires to improve and contribute to the Centre and SOCS.
SOCS Faculty Soph of the Year
Is awarded to a faculty Soph who is affiliated with OC and who demonstrates consistent involvement and dedication to the overall program. The Soph has also contributed to the betterment of the Centre, SOCS, and the needs of the OC first-year students.
Western Serves Leader of the Year
This award recognizes the overall outstanding contributions made to the Western Serves program at Western University. This award recognizes an outstanding commitment to community engagement, to innovation, dedication and passion that a student brings for Western Serves. This individual has helped promote a sense of civic engagement and social responsibility among other Western students.
Alternative Spring Break Leader of the Year
This award recognizes significant contributions to the London community and communities abroad from students that were engaged in the Alternative Spring Break program as a student team leader. Through their involvement in all facets of the program and their actions, the student has demonstrated a sense of civic engagement and social responsibility.
Career Profile Advisor Award
This award recognizes the contribution of one Career Leader who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to and involvement in the Career Leader program. The recipient will have exceeded expectations in furthering the work of the Student Success Centre and providing leadership and support to students, staff and other Career Leaders.
Leadership Educator of the Year
This award is presented to a Leadership Education Program (LEP) facilitator who has embodied the qualities of leadership excellence and who has shown a strong commitment to both the program and its participants.
LEP Leadership Committee Member of the Year
This award is presented to a Leadership Education Program (LEP) committee member who has demonstrated true enthusiasm and dedication, and who has shown a strong commitment to both the program and its participants
OPSA Province Coordinator of the Year
This award recognizes an OPSA Province Coordinator who has shown exceptional dedication and leadership throughout the year and whose involvement has had a significant impact within OPSA and the Western Community.
OPSA Mentor of the Year
This award recognizes the outstanding leadership of an OPSA mentor and honors their dedication to their First Year Students and to the program as a whole.
Scholars Choice Leadership Award
Is given to the student who has demonstrated leadership excellence within the Scholars Electives program They have shown initiative, dedication and have had a positive impact on the program as well as the Student Success Centre as a whole.
Western Scholars Leadership Award
Is given to the student who has demonstrated leadership excellence within the Western Scholars program They have shown initiative, dedication and have had a positive impact on the program as well as the Student Success Centre as a whole.
Society of Mature Students Mentor of the Year
This award recognizes the contributions of an outstanding mature student who embodies the spirit of life-long learning and has been an integral part of The Society of Mature Students.
Student Athlete Mentor of the Year
This award recognizes the outstanding leadership of a SAAMP mentor and honors their dedication to their mentees and to the program as a whole.
VIP Exceptional Service and Initiative Award
This award recognizes VIPs who have gone above and beyond their roles to serve their community. These students have demonstrated outstanding commitment throughout the year and are nominated by their supervisors.
VIP Exceptional Peer Support Award
This award is presented to individuals who through their commitment, skill, and dedication to helping others, have exemplified excellence in peer to peer assistance and outreach.These individuals act as excellent role models, work effectively as a team, and have made significant contributions to Western services and programming. This award is peer nominated.
Charity Orientation Team Student Leadership Award
This award recognizes the outstanding service to both the London and Western community. This award recognizes innovation, dedication and development of programs within the Charity Orientation portfolio. The recipient will have helped foster the growth and engagement of incoming students and fellow student leaders alike. The nomination can be made by a Student Success Centre staff person, a first year student, a member of the charity orientation team, or the charity coordinator. In the nomination letter, please outline the leadership qualities and abilities the individual has demonstrated and what contributions they have made to the community citing specific examples.
The Student Success Centre Award of Excellence
This award is given to the student who has been an invaluable member of the larger Student Success Centre team. They are engaged in the various Student Success Centre programs, provide their leadership on a regular basis and to whom the staff are truly grateful. The nominations for this award will come directly from full-time Student Success Centre Staff.
The Innovation Awards
Given to students who have gone above and beyond regular roles and responsibilities and demonstrated innovation by improving existing programming or initiating a new idea and/or event. These are peer nominated and should include in the nomination form what the nominee has done, as well as outlining his or her leadership qualities.
